The Bell Research Center serves the Forsyth County and North Georgia area. The library has several hundred volumes of books, films, periodicals, reference materials, and artifacts. While the collection focuses on local history and genealogy, it also includes a diverse range of materials on Americans of European, African, Native and Hispanic descent. The Research Center augments this with computer Internet access, computer databases, several of which are privately compiled and not otherwise available, and other facilities. The Research Center is open without charge as a community service to the public for historical and genealogical research.
Services and Resources Include:
Rotating displays of life's objects from the past. North Georgia County records of pioneer and previous residents, either printed or microform, and related publications of Southern genealogy and history, artifact and photographs. Expanded resources of American Southern Indian artifacts, books and videos, both for exhibit and research purposes. A research area equipped with microfilm and microfiche readers, a copier, a printer and computers with Internet access for further genealogical and historical research. Living history programs concerning the War for Southern Independence in close cooperation with the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Cumming Camp 1642. The marking of veteran's graves in and near Forsyth County, documenting and precisely locating all Forsyth County burial sites and generally raising and maintaining public awareness of the value of this period in our history.
